Week 4: Protect and Preserve

Day 1 Preserving the pass

Activity 1: World of wearable

5 questions I would ask Dame Suzie Moncrieff.

  1. What dress do you like best?
  2. What material did you use to make the dress?
  3. When did you start making dress?
  4. Where were you born?
  5. How old are you?
Activity 2: Guardians of the sea
No I don't believe there are Taniwhas.  Because I've never seen one and watching the video it could have been a big fish.

Activity 3: The Sky in Shanghai

China is a good place but
Having smog around the place would be terrible
I wish it didn't happen, China is a bit of a cool place
News says that the smog is killing people
And I'm a little bit scare about going there with the smog that's killing people.

  1. Hello Johanna,

I am Vitaraag, I also am very sad to hear that people in China are dying because of the smog. You really made me think about it. But I think those people who die are the ones who do not wear masks. Maybe next time you can check if your writing makes sense because I think the people who die are the ones who do not wear masks.

  2. Hello Johanna,
I can tell you've worked extremely hard on this post, because I enjoyed reading it so much. I feel the same way as you about people passing away in China, so maybe you can spread awareness about this so we can provide masks.

The questions about Dame Suzie Moncreiff really make me think, like which was their favourite dress.

I agree with you about the taniwha, I just don't think that video was showcasing a dragon. Next time you can add a bit more info about the taniwha and explain your feelings.

    Happy blogging

  3. Greetings Johanna,

I think Dame Suzie Moncrieff will really enjoy being interviewed by you because those are some very well thought-out questions you have come up with! You've given her a good challenge, especially for your first question, I'm not sure if she could decide which her favourite design is! My favourite questions from your list would have to be the first two, it would be interesting to hear more about the art itself. Have you ever been to Wellington before? I went a long time ago so I don't remember too much of the trip. Have you ever seen a World of WearableArt (WOW) show before? I think it would be amazing to see all the different creations!

Just because we've never seen dinosaurs in real life doesn't mean that they don't exist, right? Don't you think that the taniwha is a bit like the Loch Ness monster? Have you heard of it before? It supposedly lives in a loch (lake) in Scotland. No one has ever really seen it but there have been photos taken of a shadow of something on the loch. How mysterious is that?? Who knows what could be lurking in those waters... I know I definitely wouldn't want to find out! I sometimes wonder what they really look like if we ever met them. Do you think they would look like all the drawings and paintings of them?

I enjoyed reading your poem and I'm also feeling a little nervous about the smog situation and how it has been harming to people. We're very fortunate that we live in a country like New Zealand where the air is so fresh and clear. We must always remember to look after our country if we want to keep it that way! I've been to another major city there called Shanghai. It's the largest city in China. I went there over ten years ago so I don't remember too much of the trip but I do remember that everything at a distance from me looked blurry due to the thick air pollution. Nonetheless, it's a great place to visit and there are lots of delicious food and historic sites to see! Are there any countries in Asia that you would like to visit?

    Happy blogging,
    Evelyn :)
